DETAILED DESCRIPTION

Flannel fleece sheared

Flannel fleece is a very soft-surfaced, evenly shorn textile material produced from 100% micropolyester fibres. This variant is made in a sheared design, with a children's pattern, which visually highlights the surface of the material. The textile is available in an extremely wide range of patterns, with a large selection of patterns, including many children's and baby designs. The characteristic feature of micropolyester-based flannel textile is its very soft, gentle touch, which can provide a pleasant feel and good thermal sensation. The material's structure is lightweight yet appropriately dense, making it suitable for making various apparel products, baby and children's textiles, cleaning cloths, as well as lining materials.

Composition and structure

Flannel is made from 100% micropolyester. Micropolyester consists of yarns twisted from extremely fine-diameter elementary polyester fibres, which are structured according to the nature of use. For flannel fleece, the characteristic fibre structure is then created through a mechanical process.

The surface of the textile is mechanically sheared even, and then the pattern is created by shearing into the surface. As a result, a soft, tidy, slightly glossy and visually structured textile is created, available in numerous pattern variations – including many children's and baby designs.

The surface created this way can provide a pleasantly warm sensation while the material remains relatively lightweight. The micropolyester-based textile has a uniform structure, is more resistant to wrinkling, and generally dries quickly.

Material characteristics

Flannel has several material properties that make it suitable for making various textile products. The fineness of the micropolyester fibres, the brushed surface, and the sheared pattern together ensure a pleasant feel and good usability.

  • soft, fluffy surface
  • sheared design
  • children's pattern design
  • large selection of patterns, wide range
  • many children's and baby designs
  • lightweight yet dense textile structure
  • quick drying
  • good moisture absorption for cleaning cloths
  • easy handling
  • easy-to-cut and easy-to-sew base material

These properties allow flannel to appear in numerous textile products, especially where a soft surface, visual appearance and practical use are important considerations.

Applications

Flannel appears in many application areas in the textile industry. For apparel products, various comfort garments such as pyjamas, robes, tops for home wear, or textiles used as lining can be made from it.

Due to the sheared, children's-patterned surface and the wide range of patterns, it is particularly suitable for making baby and children's textiles. It is also frequently used as a base material for blankets, throws, baby accessories and various textile accessories. A smooth, plain surface is offered by cozy fleece.

One common application area of micropolyester-based flannel is the manufacturing of cleaning cloths. The soft, fine-fibred surface allows for gentle cleaning of various surfaces, so the textile can be a practical base material for household or industrial cleaning textiles.

It can also be used as a lining material, particularly for garments where a soft inner surface and lightweight fabric structure are important considerations. If a thicker, warmer lining is the goal, sherpa fleece is the next step.

Material selection considerations

When choosing flannel, it is worth considering the material's thickness, surface brushing, the nature of the sheared pattern, and the intended purpose of use. For children's products, for example, the pattern – especially the many children's and baby designs – and softness may be a key consideration, while for cleaning cloths, moisture absorption and durability may become important.

Flannel can be made in various colours and patterns. The sheared pattern variants allow the textile to fit the application area not only functionally but also aesthetically.
