Belonging to the single jersey cotton base materials, Single jersey is a classic, 100% cotton knitted textile, an excellent choice for everyday apparel purposes. The 160 g/m² weight material represents the optimal balance between lightness and adequate coverage, while the 180 cm width allows for economical cutting of garments of various sizes.Single jersey, also known as cotton jersey, is one of the best-known and most widely used types of knitted fabric. The small “V”-shaped stitches appearing on the face side, and the horizontal loops visible on the back side, give it its characteristic structure. This knitting technology provides the material's natural elasticity and comfortable wear, without the need to add elastane. If more stretch is needed, the elastane versions of stretch cotton jersey are the next step.
Material composition and physical characteristics
Thanks to the natural properties of the 100% cotton material, it has excellent breathability and moisture absorption. The 160 gsm thickness provides enough body so that the material is not see-through, while still retaining its light, airy character. This is particularly advantageous for garments that come into direct contact with the skin.
