Its water-repellent and windproof properties make it ideal for windbreakers, raincoats and outdoor accessories. The 147 cm width allows for economical cutting, while its tough, abrasion-resistant structure ensures reliable use. This nylon-based version is one type of the PU-coated water-repellent fabrics.

Belonging to the coated water-repellent fabric base materials, Waterproof nylon is an ultralight technical textile made from 100% nylon with a PU coating, with excellent water-repellent and wind-resistant properties. The 68 g/m² weight and 147 cm width make it ideal for lightweight, portable and outdoor use.Waterproof nylon is an extremely lightweight yet resistant fabric, designed specifically for applications where low weight and functionality are especially important. The nylon base material provides high tensile strength, while the PU coating forms a water-repellent layer on the surface, protecting the material from moisture and lighter rain.
Material composition and structural characteristics
The 100% nylon base material is extremely lightweight, yet strong and abrasion-resistant. The PU coating increases the material's functionality by helping to keep water out, while retaining the textile's flexibility and easy handling. The same synthetic base structure without a coating is available among the polyester fabrics.
The 68 gsm weight places this material in the ultralight category, ideal for products where low mass and easy portability are important. The 147 cm width allows for efficient cutting and material use.
Applications
Waterproof nylon can be widely used for outerwear purposes, such as making ultralight windbreakers, packable raincoats, thin waistcoats and sports tops. The wind-resistant and water-repellent properties are particularly advantageous for outdoor use. If, instead of a windbreaker, a warmer layer with a brushed interior is needed, lightweight softshell is the next step.
