Helping you choose - Softshell Fabrics
What is softshell?
In our webshop, you can choose from several types of softshell fabrics, and below we would like to help you find the right one.
Softshell fabrics are technical textiles made of two or more layers. They provide excellent breathability, water-repellent properties and wind resistance.
The layers of softshell
1. Outer layer: Flexible, water-repellent material that protects against rain and wind.
2. Middle layer: A technical membrane that provides breathability and helps transport moisture away.
3. Inner layer: A soft, comfortable surface that ensures pleasant wear.
Standard softshell
The most common type of softshell. It is an ideal choice for outdoor work, leisure activities and general use.
It has good breathability while providing proper protection against wind and moisture.
Winter softshell
A thicker and warmer version that provides comfortable wear even in cold weather conditions.
The inner fleece layer provides extra thermal insulation.
Softshell jersey
Softshell jersey is thinner than standard softshell fabrics. The outer layer is similar to classic softshell, but the inner side has a thin mesh layer instead of microfleece.
It is an excellent choice for transitional weather conditions, as it provides good wind protection and breathability.
Softshell jacquard
A three-layer, softly draping softshell fabric. It has a jersey outer side, while the inside features a microfiber jacquard knit for a pleasant touch.
Softshell cosy
Softshell cosy is especially recommended for cold weather. Its outer layer is similar to standard softshell, while the inner side has long-pile microfleece.
Softshell without TPU
Softshell without a TPU membrane consists of two layers. It does not contain a technical membrane, so it breathes well, but it is less water-resistant.
It is important to note that the water resistance of softshell fabrics may vary depending on the composition of the textile, the TPU membrane used and the surface treatment. Seams are generally not fully waterproof, so moisture may seep in during prolonged or heavy rainfall.
